Stay in the Light

They say that where there is light, no darkness can enter. Whatever is going on for you, stay in the light. I can hear you thinking "How do I find the light, what do you mean? That's such a cliche." And you are right. But there is a deeper philosophy and meaning.

They say that where there is light, no darkness can enter. Whatever is going on for you, stay in the light. I can hear you thinking "How do I find the light, what do you mean? That's such a cliche." And you are right. But there is a deeper philosophy and meaning.

Have you come across the Ho'oponopono mantra? It means "to make right" and is a traditional Hawaiian method of bringing harmony into your life and relationships and finding peace and understanding within yourself.

Because no matter what is going on, no matter who is right or wrong, any negative feelings that you have belong to you and affect you. Only you. And these negative feelings in turn affect every cell of your body, altering your body chemistry, draining you and eventually manifesting on a physical level.

You know how it feels to be carrying these feelings. So while it's natural to feel hurt, disrespected, betrayed, angry, frustrated, powerless ... and so much more ... the only person who is being affected is you. And it's your responsibility to mind your mind, no-one else's.

It's so difficult to turn off the negative chatter in your mind, the constant conversation replays, the need to justify yourself, seek agreement or have someone understand. But maybe they never will. Maybe it's completely out of your hands. Maybe then you have to ask yourself what your thoughts are achieving and if it is worth it. And then use whatever things you can to focus your mind on something else, and be aware of beginning to think in a positive way.

Take fairy steps to train your mind to focus on the positive and you will soon begin to feel a real change in your body. It's not easy, like exercising a muscle, so persevere and do the best you can by noticing what you are thinking about, how you are feeling, and then choosing something different. Eventually your mind will do it automatically.

- Gratitude is a good one, thinking about the things that you have to be grateful for, no matter how small. Noticing something that makes you smile.
- Breathing is good too as it settles your nervous system (which is probably in fight or flight mode). Just breathe in mindfully, noticing the temperature of the air on the inside of your nose as it comes in, inviting your breath to flow deep within your body, and then make your exhale longer than your inhale.
- Mindfulness - which is simply noticing everything in your current time and space using all of your senses.
- Maybe call someone who makes you feel good about yourself.
- Read some affirmations.
- Listen to an uplifting audio or an interesting podcast.
- Listening to uplifting music. There is a sweet Ho'oponopono song by The Emmitt Sisters. You can probably find it, or something similar. Another one is "How Could Anyone" by Shaina Noll.

The Ho'oponopono mantra is simple ... "I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you".

This mantra acknowledges and takes responsibility for any negative thoughts, actions or emotions that may have contributed to conflict or disharmony. The mantra helps release these negative elements and transforms them into positive, healing energy. It works.

Remember, it's not about who is right or wrong, your mind\body\spirit doesn't know or care, it only knows and cares about what is affecting it. What is affecting it is your thoughts. You have a thought which creates a feeling, which creates a chemical reaction in your body, which affects some part of you, usually the weakest link in the chain whatever that is. And over time it will manifest on a physical level.

It's about finding that place of peace within yourself so you are not being affected by negative thoughts and feelings.

Give it a try ... and let me know what works for you. If you have old, consistent patterns of worry and negative thinking and feel that you can't move beyond them, Kinesiology can identify and clear these old energies from your being, enabling you to feel lighter and clearer. You don't need them anymore. We can also work together on strategies that work for you. You can call for an appointment if you want.

With love, always.
