A Gentle Reflection on Positive Thinking
I was reflecting today on how positive thinking is often spoken about as if it’s something we should force… but in the body, things don’t shift through pressure, they shift through permission.
In Kinesiology, we see how the body holds stories … old patterns … little pockets of tension that quietly shape our thoughts and reactions. Positive thinking isn’t about ignoring these stories. It’s about giving the nervous system enough safety to explore a new possibility.
And in Reiki, we watch how energy responds to intention - not loud, not pushy, but soft … like a warm current reminding the body that it’s allowed to relax … to open … to receive.
So when you offer yourself just one kinder thought, you’re not pretending everything is perfect. You’re simply creating a gentle ripple - a moment of coherence, that your whole system can soften into.
Sometimes the positive thought is as small as: “I’m willing to see this differently.” or “I’m open to things feeling a little lighter.”
These little shifts communicate safety to the nervous system. They invite the muscles to release, the breath to deepen, the energy field to expand.
Positive thinking is not about bypassing your experience. It’s a loving invitation: a soft hand on the heart saying, “Here is a new pathway, when you’re ready.”
So if today feels heavy, maybe offer yourself one gentle, honest thought - not to fix anything, but to support your body, your energy, and your inner world in finding their way back to balance.
You are doing beautifully. One breath, one moment, one softened thought at a time.
If this speaks to you and you feel called to explore this gentle work, sessions are available in Colac and Melbourne. You’re always welcome to reach out.
